Richmond, Virginia is already having some truly hot days, which means that Summer is right around the corner. At the risk of being a pessimist, I don’t believe that many public places like outdoor pools or popular beaches will (or should) be open like normal during the Summer months. Now, that doesn’t mean that I won’t be sitting out in the sun, but my lounging spot will be different. My backyard will get a lot of use in the coming months. I’m planning on ordering a kiddie pool online, which will be shared with me by one of my family’s dogs who loves water. I’ve been looking at a few on Amazon, including this one that is marketed towards dog owners. To go with the time under the sun in that pool, I’ll be needing some swimsuits.

Usually, I’m not a fan of fashion one-piece swimsuits because I’m so used to competitive style suits like the ones made by Speedo and Nike, which typically cut higher on the hips and have a different range of sizes than the usual women’s clothing or swimsuits. However, sometimes there are certain styles that I would like to try. These are a few one-piece swimsuits that look promising.
I find bikinis a little more comfortable during hot summer days than one piece swimsuits (I get warm really easily), but I’m also quite picky about the style, cut, and color of the bikinis. I prefer higher-neck shirts, as well as swimsuits, but depending on the overall structure of the top, I might try something like a triangle style top or bandeau. These are a few bikini tops that I liked from a variety of stores. All of these options have high-rise bikini bottoms that match. I found that once I started wearing high-rise bottoms, both in swimsuits and pants, I can’t go back to mid-rise or low-rise options.
If you want a swimsuit that is cute AND will stay on when body surfing in the ocean, try JOLYN. They have bright colors, fun prints, and are made of 100% polyester. Their one-piece swimsuits are the only suits that I practice in now, and the bikinis stay on when I try to ride waves, dive into a pool, and even while racing in sprint length triathlons.
Let me know how you like any of these suits and if you’re thinking about buying them! I’m planning on buying a few and posting my own personal reviews to my Instagram once I try them. Keep an eye out for those posts later in the Summer!
